Since 2002, Jacky Blot has perfected his Cabernet Francs at Bourgeil. Jacky selects his parcels similar to the burgundy model, with a gourment “Le Pied de la Butte,” a more complex “Le Haut de la Butte,” and a sensual and well-structed “Mi-Pente.” Blot's 2009 Le Pied de la Butte is tank-raised from grapes grown on the estate's lower slopes. Red currant, elderberry, and blackberry are met on the palate. Nice concentration, a very well-balanced and satisfying wine! (Of an assortiment of 15 Chinons and 5 Bourgueils tasted by Eric Asimov and a panel of other wine-tasters written up in the New York Times (Wednesday, March 17, 2010) Jacky Blot's Domaine de la Butte 2007 came out as their favorite).
