Romain Guiberteau produces magnificent wines from “grands terroirs” where he displays the full potential of the of the appellation Saumur. The Guiberteau Les Motelles 2007 is a wine of “demi-garde” composed entirely of Cabernet Franc with 55 year old vines planted in a gravelly, clay soil (Montreuil-Bellay). Maceration takes place anywhere from 10 to 60 days, depending on the year. Native yeast is used, and ageing takes place in barrels of 1,2, and 3 wines during a minimum of 18 months. Yield 25hl/ha, annual production 4.000 bottles. Manual harvest with no chaptalisation. A wine of elegant concentration with a spicy finish.
